Congratulations to the 2025 Reach the Summit Scholarship Winners!
At NordstrandBlack PC, we are proud to advocate for the people of Santa Barbara both in the courtroom and in our community. One of the ways we support local youth is through the Reach the Summit Scholarship, an annual initiative designed to uplift students who show a commitment to leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving. This year’s applicants went above and beyond, and we are thrilled to share the results of the 2025 competition.

At NordstrandBlack PC, we believe in supporting the next generation of problem solvers and changemakers. That is why we are proud to sponsor the Reach the Summit Scholarship, a contest designed to encourage students across the country to think creatively about local issues and present innovative, community-driven solutions. This year, we were deeply inspired by the thoughtful essays submitted in response to our essay prompt:
“Devise a plan of action and create a proposal to reduce child poverty in Santa Barbara County. The plan/proposal should be targeted at and addressed to an existing government or private entity. It should explain your idea and include a donation request or some other form of support to mitigate child poverty.”

NordstrandBlack PC is thrilled to announce that we will be offering three college scholarships this year. Each of our Reach the Summit scholarships is for $750, and the contest is open to current college students and high school seniors who plan to pursue a four-year college degree. Keeping You Safe-NordstrandBlack’s Summer Bike Helmet Giveaway
Riding a bike is a wonderful activity that the whole family can enjoy, and there’s no better place to ride than Santa Barbara, CA. There are beautiful beaches, exquisite views, a temperate climate, and endless sunny days. Santa Barbara County is also home to several spectacular bike trails.
Our team at NordstrandBlack PC loves residing in Santa Barbara, and we consider it a privilege to give back to our community whenever possible. That’s why we’re pleased to announce our Summer Bike Helmet Giveaway. We’re giving away six brand-new bicycle helmets to local Santa Barbara County residents. We received several outstanding submissions for this year’s college scholarship. The initial plan was to select one winner, but two entrants stood out for their excellence and impressive dedication to success. Therefore, we decided to award two $500 scholarships this year.

After an overwhelming response and an exceptional pool of applicants, we at NordstrandBlack PC are pleased to announce that this year there will be TWO winners of our $500 college scholarship! The decision to award two scholarships was not initially planned, but the exceptional quality of this year’s applications and the inspiring stories we encountered compelled us to extend our support to an additional student, who will be announced on July 6th, 2023.

Congregation B’nai B’rith 2022 Mitzvah Day Activities
Renée Nordstrand-Black and Doug Black of NordstrandBlack PC feel truly thankful for all the good fortune in our lives. One of our greatest pleasures is living in such a beautiful community.

Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital Honored by Mayor Murillo
Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital (CRH) was one of four local organizations honored during the 16th annual Santa Barbara Mayor’s Award ceremony by Mayor Cathy Murillo on Thursday, October 28, 2021. They were recognized for their outstanding support of people with disabilities.
