Doug Black is not only a highly skilled attorney, but has been a successful construction business owner as well. His unique blend of experience as a personal injury litigator and his exceptional longstanding expertise as a licensed mason and general contractor give Doug a powerful advantage in successfully protecting the rights and well-being of his clients. He also knows firsthand the importance of giving every client the personal attention they deserve.
For nearly a decade, Doug has fine-tuned his practice, representing those who have suffered damage in the areas of personal injury, criminal defense and construction. Additionally, Doug brings a wealth of practical business experience in operations, contract formation, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution, employee related issues, and customer satisfaction.
Prior to practicing law Doug ran a successful masonry contracting business, Doug Black Masonry, for over 30 years. A native of Santa Barbara, he stayed true to his roots operating his business primarily in Santa Barbara County. As a testament of his commitment and determination, Doug attended Taft Law School while running this business, graduating with honors.
Doug is proud to be a third-generation brick mason, which he attained after graduating from San Marcos High. Seven years later, he became a licensed masonry contractor and later added a general contracting classification to that license. He continues to hold these licenses today.
As a former private pilot, certified diver, cyclist, marathon runner, triathlete and snowboarder, Doug also brings to his law practice a competitive spirit of excellence, self-discipline, passion, and detail-driven focus.
With a track record of success based on extensive legal and business knowledge, Doug is a strong and compassionate advocate dedicated to protecting individuals from being exploited by those who are in positions of power and helping them get the justice they deserve.
