There is a lot to see and do around Santa Barbara come Spring, but it’s important to stay safe. Whether you are driving or walking around, be mindful of others and make sure you never get behind the wheel after drinking. The local trolley companies are a great way to get around, but be careful as you get on and off them. If you see someone else doing something illegal or putting others in danger, contact the police to protect your neighbors and yourself.

Walking Safely

Even though the tree-lighting ceremonies and holiday parades are over, there is still plenty to see and do around Santa Barbara. Remember to share the road and sidewalks while you do so, especially if you’re in crowded areas, like a grocery store or retail store.

Sharing the sidewalk is particularly important when shopping, as large bags can make it easy to accidently bump other people, causing a fall with serious injuries. Parking lots are another danger zone, and elderly adults are more at risk of suffering catastrophic injuries in the hustle and bustle, whether due to a fall, a pedestrian-vehicle collision, or an assault.

As you’re crossing streets, be mindful of trolleys and similar services and always watch out for passengers getting on or off trolleys and buses.

Touring Safely

There are a number of guided tours you can take around Santa Barbara to see the local sights, and both the Santa Barbara Trolley Company and the Rockstar Trolley offer tours. Be careful as you get onto and off of these trolleys, however, and let them come to a complete stop before doing so. Also be mindful of other passengers and luggage on these trolleys. Being hit by a falling object can cause serious injuries, and you should not have this happen while enjoying a tour.

Watch Out for Others

Even when you’re doing everything you can to act responsibly, it’s still important to watch out for what other people are doing. If you see someone who is intoxicated in public, on the sidewalk, or trying to get into a car, contact the Santa Barbara Police Department right away. You could easily save a life by keeping someone from driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

But if you are injured by someone else’s actions in Santa Barbara, you should consider a civil claim to hold the negligent party accountable for your bills. Call NordstrandBlack PC at (805) 962-2022 to set up a free consultation with a dedicated Santa Barbara personal injury attorney.
